The major design elements in the space include custom  millwork made of stained oak and steel, scored concrete floors coated with white epoxy, and the signage on the exterior storefront. A light color palette was selected to brighten the space and  augment the natural light at the front of the store. <br /><br />The custom millwork was designed by Nilus de Matran and fabricated by Randy Castalon at Maker’s Studio. My objective was to be original and innovation, guaranteeing physical and mental interaction in the visitor (and user). The combination of the colors and forms, the use of simple materials used of innovative form and the dramatical illumination characterize the environment. One sofa style Luis XV, inherited of family and duly remodeled, complements the proposal of being a unforgettable place.</span>

The basis for the creation of interior was combination of American-style ”Steam punk", Berlin brutalism and Italian Romanticism. All these styles are displayed in the materials and furniture used in the restaurant. It combines and highlight each other hard and brutal steel elements and rough plaster walls and ceilings with warm and cozy oak panels, soft couches and purple textiles. Interior settled in deep, dramatic shades. In finishing used only natural materials, such as: stone, wood, brick, metal, plaster. The new interior is eclectic and combines both European and japanese cultural elements. In a rather small (100 square meters) restaraunt hall a lot of frescoes in Renaissance style go with the modern equipment and lamps adding the industrial touch to the design.<br />Warm colours and cosy furniture usual for European customers while deliberate coldness and brutality of industrial elements indicate their Japanese origin. The furniture and wall-paiting are worked out and made by specialists of "belenko!" bureau. The interior draws on the life of Marie Antoinette at the Palace of Versailles; creating a contemporary French café in central Melbourne. The ornate detailing of Versailles and its’period clothing are the inspiration for the bold triangular patterns featured throughout the cafe. The kitchen and wet area facade reflect the Hall of Mirrors, while the Palace Gardens are recreated outside. Cafe Vue’s logo is fashioned out of topiary and provides protection to alfresco diners from the street. The neutral palette with highlights of colour stems from the beautiful gowns of Marie as does the Corset which one can dine under. The Miyake team wanted a new design concept for the 24 Issey Miyake shop in Shibuya's Parco shopping complex, which includes a store that specially features Miyake's new Bilbao bag.<br />The Bilbao bag has no set form. Instead, it settles depending on how it is placed. To match the bag, we abandoned the standard hard, flat and smooth fixtures found in most shops, and created a set of variable-height fixtures made of thin steel rods that stand like a field of prairie grass in the shop, with a similar vague, undefined shape like the bag. Shelving and hanger rods are also made of steel rods, in the 7 mm diametre common to all of the 24 Issey Miyake shop interiors. Supported by 'points', rather than by surfaces or lines, the bags seem to waft in the air like flowers in a light breeze, creating the illusion of a field of flowers in the store.....<a href="http://www.nendo.jp/en/works/detail.php?g=interior&t=184">more</a>

The cafe is fully stocked with picture books and toys, and includes a playroom, private rooms and separate spaces for nursing and changing diapers. Wide aisles make it easy to move around with a stroller, and light switches and door handles are placed high up to keep children from using them.<br />The cafe is designed to be enjoyed by two very different sizes of users, 'parents' and 'small children', so the interior plays on this difference in scale. They also see the world through different eyes. Take a table: adults live their lives aware of tabletops, and the things placed on top of them.<br />But children see the table's underside. A table's legs can look like pillars, and the reverse of the tabletop is like a roof. The cafe's 'absolutely huge' and 'absolutely tiny' furnishings take advantage of these two perspectives, the adult's and the child's. <br />A nursing sofa becomes a playroom when blown up on a massive scale, and a diaper changing table when shrunk to minuscule proportions. Big windows pair with small ones, and big lightbulbs with small ones. The floorboards vary in size, and the undersides of tables, where parents eyes don't reach, hide pictures of parent and baby animals.
